PREVENTION:
– Heartworm prevention should be given monthly (year-round) for the life of your dog.
- Prevention should be given to all dogs regardless of whether they are inside all day or not, mosquitos can still come into your house!
- North Carolina does not get cold enough for the mosquito population to die off during the winter months, so they are still at risk during the winter. We recommend Heartgard Plus, Interceptor Plus, or Simprica Trio.
– We also recommend ORAL monthly flea/tick prevention year-round, especially if you live in a heavily populated area.
- We do not recommend topical flea/tick prevention.
